Today was a very busy activity day - the weather wasn’t that nice so it wasn’t a good day to sit up on deck. Our day started out with going to see Australian immigration. We see them now and then don’t have to do it in Australia - I think that’s a great idea and you should have seen the big smiles on the Aussie immigration people who get to have a three sea day cruise while they check out the 2600 people on the cruise. :-) We asked the woman there what to declare us as doing since we were only going to be in Australia for seven weeks before we have to go back to Canada for seven weeks before heading back to Australia. She said we could just say we are visiting this time and next time say we are immigrating so we filled out the form to say that. When we got back to the cabin, I asked Mike if he thought it would be an issue since we might buy a house while we are here this time, so we went back to the immigration people and asked them our question and they said as long as Mike has the Resident Visa in his passport, that’s all he needs to stay.

After a yummy breakfast in the dining room (more delicious poached eggs for me), we went to Brainbuster Trivia with Cruise Director Rich - we were teamed with Faye, Norm, Pat and her husband. We didn’t win but we had a lot of fun trying to come up with the answers.
Right after that, we hurried off to the Princess Theatre to see the lecture ‘John Maxtone-Graham Reads the Telephone Book’. We went cuz we knew it would be interesting since John is such a great lecturer. He told us the story of how he came up with that title for his lecture. His wife, Mary, used to sit in the back of all his lectures and one day she heard a woman say “I could listen to that man read the telephone book”. :-) The actual lecture was a conglomeration of stories each beginning with a letter of the alphabet starting with A through Z. As usual, he had some great anecdotes, many of which had us all laughing.

Since we weren’t that hungry for lunch, we decided to just get a snack from Deck 5. After that, we headed up to our cabin for a nice long nap - being lazy on these sea days really tires you out. :-) We had an extra long nap and so when we woke up it was time for dinner.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we ended up having to wait for a table for six (we have found that that is the best sized table to eat at - a four isn’t good if the people don’t talk much who you are eating with and an 8 or a 10 has too many people to talk with so you end up with many different discussions going on at the same time. While we were waiting for a table for 6 to open up, Faye and Norm came along with Bill and Leslie and their friends Lorraine and Ian. We told them the issue with tables for six and so they invited us to join them and we had a table for 8. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with them. I had a nice chat with Lorraine about teaching and buying things in Australia (for the house) and we also had some other nice discussions with everyone at the table.

Because we talked so long at our table at dinner, we missed the 8:15pm show in the Princess Theatre so we came back to the cabin to relax until it was time to go to the 10:15pm show. It was the Princess Singers and Dancers and it was called “Destination Anywhere”. It was about going to different destinations in the world - Britain, Africa and France. It was the best one that they had put on so far. The people who make the costumes should be given an award - they were truly marvellous.
